Julie Carter
Julie a Colorado native with a few decades of New Mexico citizenship where she currently hangs her sunglasses.
She is a staff writer for the Ruidoso News in Lincoln County, New Mexico. As part of the job, she is also her own photographer, snapping thousands of photos of people and places captured by New Mexico landscapes.
Julie also writes a weekly syndicated column called Cowgirl Sass & Savvy. Her book by the same name is a collection of some of the best of those stories that nail everyday ranch life and cowboys with dead on, been-there-done-that humor.
From her ranch raising in the Rocky Mountains to her ranch living on the juniper covered mesas of south central New Mexico, she brings to her writing a lifetime of real-deal cowboy tales.
Her stories chronicle spousal woes, cowboy behavior, rodeo tales or simple essays on the nature of the beast called "cowboy" -- all told with the intent to make you laugh.
Following behind masters of the genre, Baxter Black and Lee Pitts, she hopes they will let her know if they feel her nipping at their heels. Until then, they are her heroes.
If you know a cowboy, you will find him in these stories. If you are a cowboy, you will recognize yourself.
