Phillip Elbert Shurden, 63, of De Leon, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at Comanche County Medical Center. He was born on October 3, 1949 in Drew, Mississippi to Elbert and Florene Shurden. He married Linda Luna on April 23, 1973 in Grenada, Mississippi.
Phillip was a horse trainer and a blacksmith. He had lived in De Leon since 2006, having previously lived in Maypearl, Texas and Florida. God was the number one love of his life. His greatest joys in life were team roping and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Linda Shurden; son, Phillip Shurden and fiancé, Haley Lemaster; daughters, Heather Masters and husband, Brandon, Jennifer Williams and husband, Speed, Kelli Jo Shurden, and Johnna Shurden and fiancé, Luke Mayeux; grandchildren, Hali Williams, Gabriel Williams, Caden Cavness, John Masters, Madeline Masters and Andrew Mayeux; brother, Tommy Shurden; sister, Anna Marie Shurden; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family.
