Qualifying Ropings

Hello Ropers;

World Series of Team Roping sanctions local jackpots throughout the year to give everyone an opportunity to win their way to the Grand Finale in Las Vegas. Contractors are encouraged to schedule WS qualification ropings to cause the least amount aggravation and limit expenses to you the roper. This is especially important now that roper have started to truck pool once again. Contractors producing qualifiers are limited to a 20% stock charge. They are not required to provide prizes although many do.  It is our hope that with all the money in the average, and the 80% payback, that you will have the means and the inclination to participate in the Grand Finale.

The ropers that directly entered the very first year (2006) and jump started the World Series are called Legacy Ropers. We hold back 125 entries in each division for the Legacy ropers. The remaining positions in each division are available to any roper placing in the average of a World Series qualification roping. Following is a description of our qualification ropings.

Divisions

There are three divisions at a WS qualification roping, the #13, #11 and #10. The Priefert #11 and Bloomer Trailer #10 divisions are capped at a #6 for heelers, with a 21-year-old age minimum. The Cactus #13 division will have no caps, but will have a 21 year-old age minimum. Each division will be limited to roughly 250 teams.

Qualification Positions Reserved

Half of the entry positions in each Finale division are reserved for Legacy and direct entries.This process is explained in other sections. At times during the year you may see announcements that certain divisions are full and no entries are being taken. This does not mean that World Series qualification ropings are cancelled and no further entries are being taken from qualification ropings. World Series honors all entries from qualification ropings, and in fact has reserved positions in every division for every qualification roping on our schedule.

Qualification Ropings

Ropers will rope a four head average, progressive after one for $150 per roper. After winning any TEAM winning a minimum of $4000 is qualified to enter that particular Finale and will have the option of entering for $4000/per team. Although individual ropers will be allowed to enter twice at qualifiers with different partners, no roper may enter a single division at the Finale more than ONCE. Qualification ropings will be progressive ropings occurring at local arenas. Ropers placing together will not be allowed to split creating two teams at the Finale, unless one of the teams members receives a classification increase during the year. If one member of a qualification team decide not to attend the Finale, the remaining partner may select a replacement partner.
