Final IV (2009)

Cactus Saddlery World Series Pro-AM Finale (#13)

The previous record for a single division of a team roping in 2009 was $1,054,000. This division broke the existing payout record by paying $1,079,000. This record made the 2009 WSTR #13 the largest paying #13 roping in history. Clint Buhler and his brother, Jeremy Buhler took home $200,000 for their efforts in the #13 roping. From Okotoks, Alberta, Canada, Clint drove 24 hours to get to Las Vegas for the roping. He is a 27-year-old farrier, one of five children in the Buhler household that all rope. His brother, Jeremy, moved to Texas to go to college at South Plains College. “I went to rope,”said the 22-year-old. He is majoring in business and has roped with his brother forever. All the other 29 positions in the roping average were hotly contested, but the Buhler brothers never gave anyone a chance to get close to them. They won three of the five rotation fast times with three blazing seven second runs in their rotation to collect $18,000 prior to reaching short round two seconds ahead of the closest competitors. A fourth seven second run in the short round left all the other competitors seeing nothing but tail lights in this division.
