This record made the 2009 WSTR #10 the largest paying #10 roping in history. Jim Saunders and Richard Fry took home the top honors and $200,000. Jim Saunders is from Gatesville Texas. The 52-year old contractor was a rodeo traveling partner with Fry years ago. Richard Fry, from Stanfield, Arizona is in the real estate business. He trained racehorses for 27 years and once won the All American Futurity. This team entered the short round in the second call back position and made short work of the field by posting one of the fastest times in the short round of 7.45.
